An Experienced Consultant in the RV Parks and Campgrounds Industry!

In September 1971, John, Ruth and their three children moved from Indiana to California, having purchased a 20-acre closed feedlot in Dunnigan, California. The real estate flyer said: "Raise Your Beef Cattle Here!" But the Imlers had a different idea.

Starting with only a dream and imagination, Campers Inn put up an "open" sign in May 1974. In 1975, John and Ruth attended the very first state convention of the California Travel Parks Association (CTPA) and became members. In 1978 they added Dunnigan Mobile Home Park.

Although the Imlers sold their RV and Mobile Home Parks in 1985, they have remained active in the industry. Giving back to the industry has always been important to them. The walls of their office are covered with awards for their contribution to the industry in California and nationwide.

Since his creation of 70 foot long pull through sites in 1974, looking forward has been the essence of John's success. He continues to enjoy his involvement in the industry through his consulting work, writing, and authoring of the industry's most widely read and quoted books.

1986 - 1994     EXECUTIVE SERVICES GROUP. Managing General Partner. ESG specializes in various RV Park services in addition to managing the California Travel Parks Association (CTPA). Director of Government Affairs for CTPA. 1971 - 1985     RV PARK OWNER. Designed, built and operated an RV Park in Dunnigan, California. Added a Mobile Home Park on adjacent property in 1977.

CTPA (California Travel Parks Association): Served as President, Vice President, Unit President, Legislative Chairman, its first Executive Vice President and seven years on its Board. RE-WRITE COMMITTEE for State Regulations governing RV Parks - with California Department of Housing, Division of Codes and Standards. (1977-79 and 1989-90). CALTIA (Calif. Travel Industry Association): Founding member of statewide association of travel and tourism business and associations. Member Board of Directors 1983-84. GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE OF TOURISM Steering Committee Member for the first California Governor's Conference of Tourism in 1983. NCOA now ARVC (National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds). On Board from 1983 until selling RV Park in September 1985. Trustee of NCOA Insurance Trust 1984-85. Instructor and Co-founder of National RV Park Institute: NRVPI is a 4-1/2 day session sponsored by Executive Services Group (ESG). Regent & Faculty: School of RV Park & Campground Management. CERTIFIED PARKS OPERATOR (CPO) - John received his Lifetime Certification in 1999 and Ruth in 2001. Certification received through the official training and certification program of National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds.

CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL CONSULTANT (CPC). Certification received from The Consultants Institute, Sarasota, Florida.

FORMER MEMBER: National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, California Travel Parks Association, American Consultants League.

PERSONAL DATA: Born in Indiana on May 13, 1933. Attended Taylor University. Married Ruth Gerig in 1953. Three children, six grandchildren and three great grandson.
